1900s
- Paper industries continue to prosper.
- In addition to the rapid deforestation, pollution of the water arose as a key issue among the community.
- Toxic chemicals, such as PCBs, began seeing commercial use in 1929, and caused issues in the local ecosystem.
- The public took political action to reduce pollution and was met with mixed feelings and reactions.
- 1960s - Contaminated sediment is used from the river to fill wetlands, causing further environmental issues.
- 1972 - Clean Water Act is passed in order to help environmental issues associated with business dumping in the Fox.
- 1978 to 1993 - Contaminated sediment is no longer used to fill wetlands, and is instead used to create an offshore holding known as Renard Isle.
- 2009 and onward: Dredging of chemicals in the river (and capping of the waste) continues. The dredging is done to help clean up the river.
- 2010: the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is capping the Renard Isle and hopes to restore it for potential recreational use (near the city of Green Bay).
